Hi all,

The Meetup meeting series expired without me noticing. I fixed it today
and it should run for another couple of years. I'd actually suggest that
you just put the meeting on your calendar. It's been the 2nd Thursday of
the month around 7pm somewhere in Pasadena. I think that's been the
pattern the last 30 years. I'm too tired to consistently email the group.

1) We'll be meeting for dinner this Thursday, November 14th around 7pm at
IHOP (880 S Arroyo Pkwy, Pasadena)
https://www.meetup.com/sgvtech/events/311970851

There are 4 topics:
a) The SCALE, Call for Presenters
<https://www.socallinuxexpo.org/scale/23x/cfp> is open now. The website
has been revamped so it's a lot more informative and intuitive than it used
to be.

The CFP deadline is December 1st. If you can give a talk or you
know someone who can give a talk on some FOSS or open source project,
please encourage them to submit. There's a New Speaker Q&A video
<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wAvD59BfJ2U> from a couple of years ago
that should help.

b). https://www.sgvlug.org/pages/history.html

The LUG was founded on November 11, 1995 by Gunther Schlienkofer and other
local Linux Users, who met in his small home in Altadena. So it has been
exactly 30 years, as of today.

Should we do something special? Should we plan it for SCALE?

c) I think it's time to revisit SGVTech itself. Currently, Braddock and I
are keeping things going with the domain name, webhosting, mailing list,
taking care of Meetup fees, and just representing at the monthly meetings.

Do we still have a steering committee? Do we want to keep Meetup? Do we
still exist as SGVHAK? Do we want to discontinue the websites and lose the
set of domain names?

And if we continue with these services, then we probably should pass
the hat to collect money to cover some of these fees.

d) About December's meeting: Traditionally, we have met at Pitfire Pizza
in December, which is a larger space with more variety in food and drink,
and it's a livelier, festive event. Do we want to do anything special this
year?
