Hi all,

We had a great time meeting at Dave's place.  It is a cool place with all sorts of tools and circuit boards and rockets.  (Yes, I said rockets.)

I think most of us ended up getting there around 6 or 7.

There was indeed a soldering demonstration and an interesting back and forth between Dave and Mic on soldering, soldering irons, why you shouldn't use a sponge, and uses for various types of flux.  Mic showed off a little circuit board from a paintball gun.   Michael was off in a corner teaching one of our newbies basic electronics and doing some simple demonstrations  involving an Arduino and am infrared sensors and an oscillator.

Dave's place is more conducive to working on projects with the larger space and the long worktable with convenient electric outlets and easy access to a variety of tools.

We had dinner afterwards at the Arcadia Garden Cafe, which is a Hong Kong-style Chinese restaurant.  Food is good, place is spacious, and it was not too noisy on our end of the room.  And they are open late.

Dave has offered to host future meetings on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month.  Due to the July 4th holiday, we won't be meeting again until the 3rd Thursday, which is July 18th, I think.

I will follow up with the library towards the end of the month to confirm our reservation for the the 4th Saturday in July.  It will be from 2-6pm.  Around that time I will ask for RSVPs so I will know whether to keep the reservation for that time.

Lan
