Hey all,

The SGVLUG and SGVHAK has been involved with the Southern California Linux
Expo for years. This year, I've been more involved with the programming,
aka recruiting speakers, selecting talks, giving feedback on tracks. I
think we have a lot of cool new tracks and talks this year as well as
co-located events, and I just want to make sure the people who would be
interested won't miss out.

So please help me pass the word to anyone who you think might be
interested, and make it easy for them to spread the word as well.

Here's the blurb I've been sending out in my circles an example. I've been
targeting college professors. Please adjust it to whatever works for you.
Have them ask you questions about your experience at SCALE. Otherwise,
have them contact info at socalliinuxexpo.org

The Southern California Linux Expo <https://www.socallinuxexpo.org> will be
at the Pasadena Convention Center Mar 14-17. The registration fee is $90,
but there is a standing 50% STDNT promo code for students. Students may
also volunteer with the conference, which will give them the opportunity to
check out some of the talks.

It's a great community run conference for students who want to get into IT,
software development, AI, Cybersecurity or data science. There are a bunch
of co-located events, which are basically other organizations hosting an
event at SCALE. We have 14-16 tracks of talks and workshops. There is a
Capture the Flag competition, an Expo hall, and an Open Source Career Day
<https://www.socallinuxexpo.org/scale/21x/open-source-career-day>.

We have some speakers at JPL talking about a standards-as-code approach to
software development as well as NASA's Open Science initiative. We have an
update on the JPL Open Source Rover. We have some folks from Google talking
about securing the software supply chain and shifting left when it comes to
thinking about security in software development. And we have a talk about
nurturing the next generation of open source contributors. We have talks
on AI and Applied Science and on Open Government.

We also have a The Next Generation SCALE Youth Track
<https://www.socallinuxexpo.org/scale/21x/events/scale-kids>, so if you or
your students mentor high school kids, they could bring them to SCALE. We
have registration instructions for students coming with their
parents/guardians or for school groups or clubs. It's targeted at grades
6-12.

You can email me at <email address> if you have any questions,

Lan
