Hi all,
Happy New Year!
It was really cool that SGVHAK participated in the DTLA Mini Maker Faire. I'd like us to continue to be more active as a group and I hope we'll have a booth at the DTLA Maker Faire later this year.
The last HAK meeting at Tux-Lab in December attracted some new people and contacts.
The next SGVHAK meeting is tomorrow (Thursday) @ 6:30pm at Dave's place (11711 Clark Street Suite 108 · Arcadia, CA).

The two main topics will be the open source rover project and the penguin telepresence robot project.
1) SGVHAK will be among the first group of builders of the JPL Open Source Rover. I think the other builders are 4-5 high school groups. I have some of the documentation, so we now actually have something to work with. The goal is to build the rover and provide feedback and enhancements.

Currently, Dave and I are leading this effort, and I will fund it. The build should finish by end of February, though I'm hoping to get this done by mid-February so it's not too close to SCALE.
2) Last year, Ginko and Michael and Dave were talking about a penguin telepresence robot. Ginko is looking to restart work on this project.
