If you are looking for free cloud for a year to play around Google has an
interesting free offer. I don't know what strings are attached but it
looks good at the surface. They mention 'enough credit to run for a year'
in their mailing but there is a '60 day free' tag on the offer page so YMMV.

I checked it out - https://cloud.google.com/free-trial/
It looks like it is open for everyone ---- all your clubs can use it, Matt,
and they can share with anyone and with as many people as they want ----
the good folks at Goog want the world to dip their toes in their Kool-Aid.
Best,

Hi,
Thanks for dropping by Google Cloud Platform.
As a token of our appreciation, we'd like to give you a $300 credit
<https://cloud.google.com/free-trial> to build what's next on Google Cloud
Platform <http://cloud.google.com> . That's enough credit to provision a
Compute Engine machine for a year, or real-time data analysis of 61 TB on
Bigquery. We hope you'll use this credit to start building on our cloud.
It's the same cloud used to power Google, YouTube, and many of the world's
largest apps and sites.
Redeem your credit here: https://cloud.google.com/free-trial .
Regards,
The Google Cloud Platform team
